US State of Idaho proclaimed April 24 a Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide

The US state of Idaho declared April 24 as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Armenian Genocide and recognized the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian National Committee of America reported on Facebook.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the residents of Armenia honored the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide with a traditional torchlight procession, in which about seven thousand people took part. The action was held under the motto "Recognition, Condemnation, Compensation."

Residents of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Armenian diaspora annually celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923 on April 24. The Armenian Genocide was recognized by over 20 states, including Russia.

Let us note that on October 30, 2019, the genocide was recognized by a resolution of the House of Representatives of the Congress. Formally, this means that the United States has recognized the Armenian Genocide, it comes into force without the approval of the Senate and the President of the United States.
