Victims put forward no claims against Ingush activists

The four "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) servicemen, interrogated on April 28 as victims in the case of the leaders of the Ingush protest, told the court that they had no claims against the defendants, and found it difficult to explain why they had treated them as guilty of organizing a rally in Magas, the advocates has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of Zarifa Sautieva and six other leaders of the protest in Ingushetia, who are accused of creating an extremist community, has been considered since November 24, 2020, by the Kislovodsk City Court. Almost all the interrogated trial figurants gave evidence in favour of the defendants.

On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia continued their protest rally in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. In the morning on March 27, protesters clashed with the police. Starting since the early April of 2019, mass arrests of oppositionists took place in Ingushetia.

The next session of the above court on the case of the leaders of the Ingush protest was held on April 28. At the session, four "Rosgvardia" servicemen were questioned, Magomed Kuriev, an advocate, has explained.

"All the four servicemen were recognized as victims and were classified. However, they failed to explain to the court and the defence why they were treated as victims in this criminal case. During the interrogation, the servicemen said they had no claims against the defendants, but they believe that they were guilty of organizing the above unsanctioned rally. However, when asked by the defence why they believe that the defendants had organized the rally, none of the four could answer," Magomed Kuriev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
