Navalny’s offices included in list of extremist organizations

Today, the “Rosfinmonitoring” (the Russian Federal Service for Financial Monitoring) has included the “Navalny’s Offices” in the list of legal entities involved in terrorism and extremist activities.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that before the 2018 presidential election, the Navalny’s team opened 63 regional offices, including five in Southern Russia. On April 26, the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office suspended the activities of the Navalny’s offices amid the preparation of the Moscow City Court to consider a claim to recognize them as an extremist organization.

Today, the “Rosfinmonitoring” has included the “Navalny’s Offices” public organization in the list of organizations involved in terrorism and extremist activities, the “Rosfinmonitoring” reports on its official website.

In fact, there is no “Navalny’s Offices” public organization, insists Leonid Volkov, the head of the Navalny’s offices. “There is no such organization: ‘Navalny’s Offices’, but there is the ‘Foundation for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights’ (known as FZPG)*, which provides legal footwork for the activities of [the Navalny’s offices],” said Leonid Volkov as quoted by the newspaper “Novaya Gazeta” on April 26.

* The organization is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the “Register of non-profit organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent”.
