Trial of OMON pogromists of children's camp continues in Sochi
Today, the Lazarevskiy District Court of the city of Sochi has continued the process on allegations of a group of OMON (special militia) fighters of exceeding their official powers with application of violence in the "Druzhba" (Friendship) children's camp last summer. 10 victims have come to the court session.
Journalists of the "Rossiya" (Russia) TV Channel were present in the courtroom and started a video recording of the litigation.
At the start of the session, the defence lodged a number of petitions: to ban the video recording; not to admit media representatives to the courtroom; to enter the persons who will make audio recording of the process into the minutes of the sitting.
The state prosecutor and lawyer N. Shakhovalov, representative of the victims, have voiced for rejection of the petitions.
Having heard the opinions of the parties of the process, the court ruled to allow the participants of the judicial session and media to make video recording in the beginning and at the end of each session.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that the OMON militiamen are accused of excess of their official powers with application of violence and special means.
