Dagestani social media users consider fellow countrymen’s apologies to Kadyrov forced

Relatives of a teenager from Dagestan who called Ramzan Kadyrov a “shaitan” (demon) publicly apologized to the leader of Chechnya against their will, Dagestani Instagram users suggest.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the “Grozny” TV Channel released a video with the apologies of a father, a grandfather, and an uncle of a teenager living in the Moscow Region. In particular, the father of the teenager apologized “for the wrong upbringing” of the boy.

On May 17, Ramzan Kadyrov promised to “destroy” an Instagram user for a comment posted during a live broadcast. The threats fall under the murder threat clause, the human rights defenders say.

In their comments, many Instagram users expressed the confidence that the natives of Dagestan were forced to voice the public apology.

“I wonder if someone will ban us from thinking. Will they force us to apologize for our thoughts as well?” user k4157073 asked.

Let us remind you that earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov has voiced threats against authors of negative materials about Chechnya and social media users who posted comments on those materials. In particular, the leader of Chechnya voiced similar threats in November 2019.
