FSB reports detention in Stavropol Territory of a man suspected of plotting a terror act
In the Stavropol Territory, a supporter of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), who was plotting a terror act in Norilsk, was detained, the FSB reports. The detainee has an earlier criminal record for terrorism and spent 15 years in prisons, sources reported.
The special operation to detain the suspected terrorist took place on April 22, but the law enforcement body did not report about it until today. According to the FSB’s report, the detainee planned to organize a terror act in Norilsk on May 9 this year by activating an improvised explosive device (IED).
The man was detained after explosives and strike elements were discovered in a hiding he had equipped in a basement of one of the houses in Norilsk. The FSB also found among the suspect’s gadgets the instructions on how to manufacture an IED, as well as correspondence, which proved his attempts to persuade acquaintances to commit an explosion in a parade convoy of military personnel during the Victory Day celebrations.
