Azerbaijan claims a shelling attack from Armenia

During three days, the Armenian military personnel were shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the Kelbadjar and Gadabay District, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports today.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 25, the Armenian Ministry of Defence announced the death of a 32-year-old contract soldier on the border near the village of Verin Shorzha in the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia as a result of a shootout with the Azerbaijani soldiers. The Azerbaijani MoD denied reports about the shelling attack on the Azerbaijani military positions by the Armenian army near the village of Verin Shorzha and stated that the death of the Armenian soldier was an accident.

On May 24-26, the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbadjar and Gadabay Districts were regularly subjected to shelling attacks from small arms from the positions of the Armenian armed forces in the Gegarkunik Region, the news agency “Report” reports today with reference to the MoD of Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijani military officials, with the aim of provocation, Armenian soldiers opened fire in the air from automatic firearms in the direction of the posts of the Azerbaijani armed forces, located in the vicinity of the city of Shusha (the Armenian name is Shushi, – note of the “Caucasian Knot). “No return fire was opened. There are no casualties,” the “Sputnik-Azerbaijan” quotes the Azerbaijani MoD as reporting.
