Kocharyan's supporters urge to prevent election frauds

Participants of the action in support of Robert Kocharyan's "Ayastan" bloc have called on not to admit vote rigging at the upcoming early parliamentary elections in Armenia. During the election campaign, two opposing favourites can be outlined; and it is impossible to predict which of them will win, political analysts forecast.

According to a Gallup poll, Robert Kocharyan's "Ayastan" bloc is in the lead in the election race, ahead of Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" Party by 3.5%. Some of the Yerevan residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent stated their disappointment in Pashinyan, while other revolutionary's former supporters see no alternative to him.

The extraordinary elections to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia are scheduled for June 20. The agreement on the elections was reached after several months of protests of the opposition, who are dissatisfied with the Armenia's defeat in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Mr Kocharyan has stated that the most pressing issues to be addressed are the border safety, the fate of Karabakh, social problems and migration.

Naira Airumyan, the editor of the "Lragir.am", has noted that the upcoming elections are one of the most difficult to predict. According to her version, the rallies of the two leaders are not indicative, because a person can come to a rally for certain reasons, but then vote for the other candidate.

According to Armen Vardanyan, a political analyst, the election campaign was accompanied by aggressive rhetoric. Two poles have formed – Pashinyan and Kocharyan, and these elections are very unpredictable.
