Azerbaijan claims machine-gun shelling of its positions near Shusha

The positions of Azerbaijani militaries near Shusha were shelled from machine and submachine guns from the territory guarded by Russian peacemakers, the Azeri Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.

On July 9, about a hundred diplomats visited Shusha (the Armenian name is Shushi), which earlier in May was declared by the Azerbaijani President to be the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. This visit contributes to the escalation of the Karabakh conflict, since it can be regarded as recognition of the conflict resolution in favour of Azerbaijan, Armenian analysts believe.

"On July 13, illegal Armenian armed detachments located in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacemakers are stationed, opened fire from machine and submachine guns at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army deployed in the vicinity of the city of Shusha," the press service of the Azeri MoD has stated.

There are no casualties and wounded persons among Azerbaijani militaries.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
