Azerbaijani soldiers return lost Karabakh villager

In search of lost livestock, a resident of the border village of Machkalashen in Nagorno-Karabakh entered the territory controlled by Azerbaijan. The man returned home due to the mediation of Russian peacekeepers. Residents of border villages do not always understand where the demarcation line lies, the Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh says.

Today, Artak Minasyan, living in the border village of Machkalashen in the Martuni District of Karabakh, has lost his way in the area of border with Azerbaijan, reports Lernik Avanesyan, the head of the Machkalashen community.

“Artak Minasyan complained that he was beaten,” Lernik Avanesyan said.

“Villagers more and more often get lost and enter the territories controlled by the Azerbaijani armed forces. Heads of communities should work with villagers and show them which territories are under the control of Azerbaijan,” says Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman Gegam Stepanyan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that on July 22, a resident of Nagorno-Karabakh, who lost his way and ended up in the area controlled by Azerbaijan, was returned from captivity with the intervention of the Russian peacekeepers.
