Magdi Kamalov confirms innocence of those accused of murdering his brother-journalist

Magdi, a brother of Khadjimurad Kamalov, the founder of the Dagestani "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, who was killed in 2011, had earlier declared the innocence of the defendants, and now has confirmed his position at the court session. He has stated that there was no conflict of his brother with Shamil Isaev, a former republic's Vice-Premier, who was treated as the customer of the murder.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Shamil Isaev was declared to be the customer of Khadjimurad Kamalov's killing.

Earlier, Magdi Kamalov stated that he treated the defendants innocent and disbelieved the investigators' official version. In Magdi's opinion, there was no his brother's conflict with Isaev, and in 2009-2011, he found no article in the "Chernovik" written by his brother and criticizing the Vice-Premier. He also pointed out that some of the testimonies were obtained by law enforcers through pressure on the defendants.

Let us remind you that in October 2020, Ali Kamalov, the head of the Dagestani Union of Journalists and Khadjimurad Kamalov's uncle, stated that there were personal hostile relations of his nephew and Shamil Isaev.
