In Batumi, "Dream City" townspeople demand housing from authorities
In front of the Adjara government, a protest action was held by residents of the "Dream City" settlement, dissatisfied with the absence of information on the conditions for providing apartments in the buildings under construction.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February, in the "Dream City" in Batumi, the construction of three apartment blocks was launched for forced migrants. Local residents are not sure that the blocks will be finished, while treating the current housing as unfit for living. On March 22, they held a rally demanding to allocate apartments to them.
On September 26, "Dream City" townspeople blocked Rustaveli Street in Batumi for a few minutes. The protesters claimed that they had been asking to solve their housing problems for many years, but have received no response from the government, the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company has reported.
Prior blocking the street, residents held a protest in front of the building of the Adjara government; they sent a letter to Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chairman of the Adjara government, and demanded a specific answer on which category of families and when would receive apartments in the "Dream City".
"Let them explain to us on what principle people get apartments in the houses under construction in the 'Dream City'. We are the same people and want to live normally and raise our children in normal conditions," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated the words of one of the protesting women pronounced on air of the TV Company.
