Ingush Council of Teips reacts to Daudov's statements
The Ingush-Chechen border dispute should be resolved by the people who can do it fairly, according to Sharia, and will have powers delegated by both nations, the Council of Teips of Ingushetia has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 13, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that he could take part of its lands away from Ingushetia. "The lands that [the first president of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Djokhar] Dudaev gave away to them (to Ingushetia) for the temporary use and illegally – I can take them back," the head of Chechnya has stated, in particular. On November 18, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, accused the Ingush Council of Teips of provocation related to the statement on the lands on the border of both republics and announced his readiness to meet with opponents.
On November 19, the Ingush Council of Teips posted, on its official channel on the YouTube video hosting, a video statement addressed to Chechen authorities.
"We've urged [Chechens and Ingushes] to behave as befits Muslims, without insults. The World Congress of the Ingush People has set up a commission. We wanted Chechens to set up exactly the same commission so that they could sit down and come to an agreement; and if they can't, then the decision should be based on the Sharia law," reads the Council's statement, which was translated for the "Caucasian Knot" by one of Ingush activists.
