Two hunger-strikers in support of Saakashvili hospitalized

About 200 people are taking part in a mass hunger strike demanding the release of Mikhail Saakashvili; the action continues for seven days already. Since the start thereof, ten hunger-strikers have been hospitalized; two were taken to hospital on December 27.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 21, Saakashvili's birthday, his supporters went out to a rally in Tbilisi demanding the release of the politician, and then activists of the oppositional "United National Movement" (UNM) Party went on a mass hunger strike. On December 22, several dozen people from the regions of Georgia joined the action. In their turn, members of the ruling "Georgian Dream" Party have reproached Saakashvili for forcing his supporters to hold the hunger strike.

From time to time, new participants are joining the hunger strike; today up to 200 people take part in it, the UNM Party has informed.
