Azerbaijan’s parliament adopts Law “On Media”

Azerbaijani MPs adopted the Law “On Media”, which provoked protests from journalists.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 14, the Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (parliament) adopted the draft law “On Media” which drew serious criticism from journalists and experts. They demanded to withdraw the draft law from consideration and create a new working group. Eight parties called on the President of Azerbaijan to stop the passage of the law. On December 28, in Baku, the journalists held a protest action against the law.

    Lawyer Timur Idalov, sentenced for threatening a public prosecutor, appealed to the judge of the Khimki City Court, pointing out the violation of the norms of criminal procedure law in the decisions on his case.
