An Azerbaijani soldier killed on border

Long-term service soldier Ayaz Azer oglu Nazarov was killed in a shelling attack from Armenia in the direction of the Kelbadjar District of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 8, the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire in the direction of the village of Verin Shorzha, the head of the community said. The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claimed a shelling attack on its positions from the Armenian side with the use of grenade launchers and large-calibre firearms. On January 10, the Ministry of Defence of Nagorno-Karabakh reported about a shelling attack on the village of Karmir Shouka in the Martuni District, as a result of which a civilian’s car caught fire. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence called the above report a lie. The Azerbaijani armed forces also shelled firefighters in the village of Karmir Shouka, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported later. On the same day, residents of the Nakhichevanik village in the Askeran District complained about the intense fire coming from the Azerbaijani armed forces.
