Advocate lists law enforcers' tricks in Musaeva's case

Law enforcers would not let the defence to visit the mother of Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)*; they present false information about her whereabouts, while the court ignores requests for the provision of case materials, Alexander Nemov, an advocate, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 26, Abubakar Yangulbaev reported that Chechen law enforcers failed to react to advocate's demands to allow him to visit Zarema Musaeva (Yangulbaeva). On January 26, Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, assured that Musaeva was in satisfactory condition. Some Instagram users treated his report as a "performance."

Alexander Nemov, Musaeva's advocate, said he was unable to visit his client. He added that the defence had leaned from open sources for what she had been arrested for 15 days.

Evgeny Chernousov, a lawyer, said that the non-admission of an advocate to his client violates the rights of them both.

Let us remind you that on January 20, Zarema Musaeva, the wife of Saidi Yangulbaev, a retired federal judge, was taken from her Nizhny Novgorod apartment to Chechnya.

On January 22, the head of Chechnya accused the Yangulbaev family of supporting terrorism and called on law enforcers to detain or execute them. Musaeva's sons should come to Chechnya to fetch their mother, Kadyrov has added. Analysts have suggested that Zarema's relatives are provoked to committing illegal actions in order to have a reason to punish them.
