Polad Aslanov transferred to SIZO
Journalist Polad Aslanov was transferred from a prison hospital to a SIZO (pre-trial prison). The day before, doctors examined the convicted journalist for the first time in five days after the end of his hunger strike, reported a spouse of Polad Aslanov.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 6, Polad Aslanov went on a hunger strike with the demand to reconsider his case. On the 19th day of the hunger strike, Polad Aslanov was hospitalized to the medical institution of the Penitentiary Service after he had fainted in the penal colony. On January 25, on the 20th day of his hunger strike, Polad Aslanov stopped the protest action due to the strict recommendation of the doctors.
According to Gyulmira Aslanova, the spouse of the convicted journalist, on January 31, her husband was transferred from the medical institution of the Penitentiary Service to the SIZO. Gyulmira Aslanova associates the above transfer with the upcoming consideration of the cassation appeal in the Supreme Court (SC) of Azerbaijan, which is scheduled for February 3.
According to Gyulmira Aslanova, her husband was examined by the doctors. “Polad said that in connection with swelling in his face, legs, and arms arising as a result of the hunger strike, he was finally examined by doctors on January 30. Obviously, they reacted after I told the media that Polad had not been examined after his hunger strike and that he was not being provided with medical assistance,” Gyulmira Aslanova said.
