Saidi Yangulbaev rebukes Kremlin for inaction

Saidi Yangulbaev, a former federal judge, said that he had repeatedly appealed to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, asking him to protect his family from the persecution by "Kadyrov people", but no reaction followed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 3, the qualification board of judges of Chechnya terminated Saidi Yangulbaev's resignation, thus depriving him of his legitimate immunity. Yangulbaev said that the decision of the qualification board of Chechen judges is contrary to the law and will be appealed against.

In November 2015, Ibragim, the middle Yangulbaevs' son, was brought, together with his father and brother Ibragim, to the residence of Ramzan Kadyrov, where they were beaten up for running a group on the "VKontakte" social network, the head of Chechnya declared a blood feud against Ibragim. The father, Saidi Yangulbaev, under the threat of Ibragim's death, was forced to resign from the post of the federal judge of the Chechen SC, the "Caucasian Knot" reports in its material "How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov's enemies".

Saidi Yangulbaev said that back in 2017, after his family was persecuted, he turned to Vladimir Putin for help, but instead all his complaints were sent down to Chechnya. "It seems that since I was appointed by a presidential decree, he could assign someone to deal with me since 2015, well, at least in 2017, when I turned to President Vladimir Putin because of the persecution of my youngest son Ibragim on extremist charges. But then my applications were sent to Chechnya – to those very bodies against which I had complained and whose employees I asked to be held accountable," Mr Yangulbaev said in his interview with the "Republic"* outlet on February 4.

He has stressed that the whole world knows about the situation with his family, "but the Kremlin is silent." "After all, I was appointed to the post of the judge by a decree of the President of Russia. Why is Putin silent now, when the whole world is talking about this? Why doesn't he check and get into the situation? He is, after all, the guarantor of the Constitution. I feel very offended by him," the former judge has stated.
