Akhmed Pogorov's relatives alarmed by his health condition

The medical unit of the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where Akhmed Pogorov, a co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, is being treated, has no conditions for providing Pogorov with the medical treatment he needs, his relatives have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhmed Pogorov was detained on February 26, 2021, and charged with participation in an extremist community. In late May 2021, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria decided to transfer him from the SIZO to house arrest. At home, Pogorov became ill and was hospitalized into the Nazran hospital. However, despite doctors' protests, law enforcers took him from the hospital to Essentuki for investigation and put him to jail.

According to the defence, after the second arrest, the health state of Akhmed Pogorov deteriorated, and he does not get the necessary medical treatment at a SIZO (pre-trial prison).

The Stavropol Territorial Court, when considering the extension of Akhmed Pogorov's detention, has ignored the conclusion of the experts of the Stavropol Lunts Expert Centre presented by his advocates. In this conclusion, the doctors, while analyzing the data on Pogorov's health recorded by the SIZO doctors in the medical record, noted that all indicators point to a steadily deteriorating health, Magomed Gagiev, one of the advocates, has explained.

Khamzat, an Akhmed Pogorov's nephew, said that his uncle is receiving some medical care at the SIZO, but this care is not professional; and the medicines that he receives there relieve pain, but do not cure.
