Fiji police report about detention of Kerimov’s yacht

The “Amadea” yacht, owned by Dagestani entrepreneur Suleiman Kerimov, has been detained for entering the Fiji exclusive economic zone without permission from the authorities, the local police report.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that after the start of the military special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine on February 24, the European Union (EU) and the United States imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. The list of the fourth package of the EU sanctions included a group of major Russian business figures, including Suleiman Kerimov. As part of the sanctions, the entrepreneur is banned from entering the EU, and his assets are to be frozen upon their discovery.

On Wednesday, April 13, the “Amadea” yacht, allegedly owned by senator Suleiman Kerimov, moored at the Lautoka pier and was detained by the police. An investigation has been launched into possible violations of the Fiji exclusive economic zone and money laundering, the website of the Fijian FBC TV Channel reports today.

The crew of the “Amadea” yacht, one of the largest yachts in the world, remains on board, and they are not allowed to come ashore.
