FSB reports prevention of terror act in KChR

Three persons were detained in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) on suspicion of having links with the "Islamic State" (IS)* and preparing a terror act in the republic, the FSB has reported.

"In Cherkessk, the KChR capital, three Russian citizens have been detained for preparing a terror act against some state power facility on the instructions of militants of the IS*, an international terrorist organization banned in Russia," the Public Relations Centre of the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) has informed.

The detainees' homes were searched; components for making an improvised explosive device (IED) were found, as well as the communication equipment in which terrorist content was found and correspondence with militants about the planned crime, the TASS writes with reference to FSB.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on the detention of an alleged supporter of the IS* in Stavropol. According to law enforcers, he had planned a terror act at the railway station.
