After her picket in Moscow, right defender accused of discrediting Army

Law enforcers have accused Olga Gorelik, a former employee of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"*, went to a pacifist picket in Moscow, of discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 5, the Moscow Court of Appeal upheld the decision to liquidate the HRC "Memorial"*, dismissing the defence's request to postpone the consideration until the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on the earlier complaint against the law on foreign agents.

Ms Gorelik, a former HRC* employee, who went on a picket in Moscow, was detained, the team of the former HRC "Memorial"* has reported in their Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that after on March 4, the responsibility for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces was enforced they began applying this article for prosecuting those who opposed the special operation in Ukraine. In Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory), courts are ignoring all the defence's arguments in favour of the people detained for calling for peace, lawyers have pointed out.

On March 20, law enforcers also detained Oleg Orlov, a board member of the HRC "Memorial"*, in a Moscow square, where he was holding a poster criticizing President Vladimir Putin. On March 30, the court sentenced him to a fine.
