Law enforcers' harsh actions in Yerevan give rise to accuse them of provocations

Pashinyan's power relies only on law enforcers, who have provoked a conflict at the protest action, oppositionists have stated. The protest movement is on another surge; while the opposition's actions have become more targeted, Naira Airumyan, an observer, has noted. In his turn, Armen Badalyan, a political strategist, believes that the protest movement has reached a dead end, since the absence of a creative approach is affecting it.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 30 the opposition held an action in front of the building of the Armenian government; activists tried to break into the building. The police reported the detention of 111 activists. Four people were hospitalized, including two law enforcers. Protesters claim that policemen used excessive force during detentions.

Nikol Pashinyan has no power; only policemen remain, behind whom he is hiding, but he will not be able to hold power for so long, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, has stated.

The police's ban on people to enter the ministry is a violation of the law, since an MP has the right to unhindered entry into any state institution, Mr Sagatelyan, an MP, has emphasized. But the police, at the behest of the authorities, used brutal force to instil fear in people, he has added, assuring that any authorities' provocation is doomed to failure.

Naira Airumyan, a political observer, believes that the protest movement is on the next rise, while oppositionists' actions have become more targeted. In her opinion, the change in the police's behaviour has also to do with it.

Armen Badalyan, a political strategist, has linked the police's actions with authorities' fears. According to his version, the Saturday (May 28) march gathered more than 20,000 people. Mr Badalyan believes that both the opposition and the authorities are acting to their limits, but both parties have nowhere to retreat.
