Muslims ask to ban Kirkorov’s concerts in Caucasus

Saipuddin Guchigov, the head of the “Our Home is the City of Grozny” movement, demanded to ban Filipp Kirkorov’s concerts in the Caucasus after a show in which the singer was dancing on a cross. Earlier, Filipp Kirkorov’s concert in Pyatigorsk was cancelled due to numerous people’s requests.

Saipuddin Guchigov explained that Muslims came out in support of Orthodox believers. “At his anniversary concert, Kirkorov mocked the symbol of Christianity,” Saipuddin Guchigov is quoted as saying in a video posted by the “Mash” Telegram channel.

The activist added that the Muslims decided to support the Orthodox believers, as they supported them after the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Earlier, the Pyatigorsk and Circassian Diocese spoke against  Filipp Kirkorov’s concert.

It has been also reported that Filipp Kirkorov’s concert in Pyatigorsk was cancelled “after an inflow of citizens’ appeals,” the “RIA Novosti” reports.

Filipp Kirkorov himself associated the campaign against his concerts in the Caucasus with his statements in support of Alla Pugacheva and Maxim Galkin, who left for Israel after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Maxim Galkin wrote a number of pacifist posts on Instagram*.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in November, a court sentenced to long terms of imprisonment four residents of Dagestan, who were accused of plotting a terror act at Filipp Kirkorov’s concert in Makhachkala.

* On March 21, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
