Adyg activist leaves Russia after complaints of torture by law enforcers

Kase Kik, an Adyg activist, has left Russia after complaints of being tortured in Cherkessk, human rights defenders have stated. He has explained that he had feared for his safety.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 10, human rights defenders reported that law enforcers have tortured Kase Kik and drew up a protocol on petty hooliganism against him.

According to Kase Kik, from his student days he took part in the public Circassian national youth movement "Adyge-Khase KChR" (KChR means Karachay-Cherkessian Republic); from 2008 to 2012, he headed the "Circassian Congress of the KChR". He was engaged in organizing cultural events aimed at the revival of Circassian customs, including mourning marches.
