Adyg activist wants to bring law enforcers to justice for torture

Adyg activist Kase Kik, who left Russia, plans to file a complaint to the law enforcement bodies about torture. A case on abuse of authority by law enforcers can be instituted also not at a request of the victim, if there are other sources of information about the crime, advocate Timofei Shirokov emphasizes.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Kase Kik left Russia after he complained about being tortured by law enforcers in Cherkessk. On June 10, it became known that the law enforcers detained the activist, tortured him, and drew up a protocol on petty hooliganism against him. Court sentenced the activist to seven days of arrest.

Kase Kik is now safe outside of Russia. According to the activist, he received no threats.

When a student, Kase Kik participated in the public Circassian youth movement “Adyge-Khase KChR", and in 2008-2012, he headed the “Circassian Congress of the KChR”.
