Resident of Dagestani Baksan fined for discrediting army

The Baksan District Court has imposed a fine on Aslan Khatazhukov, finding his actions as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The "Caucasian Knot" wrote that activists from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) and other regions of Southern Russia are brought to justice for pickets with pacifist slogans and posts in social networks. For example, Zaurbek Zhambekov, a resident of Nalchik, was sentenced to two years of conditional imprisonment after he forced his daughter to tear the letter Z from her car.

After on March 4 administrative liability for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces was introduced, commentators in social networks and participants in pacifist actions began to be held accountable for such offences. By June 7, the Krasnodar Territory was among the leading regions in terms of the number of cases initiated under this article.

The court has found Aslan Khatazhukov guilty of discrediting the actions of the Russian Army. The court ruling emphasizes that he has admitted his guilt, repented and asked to impose a minimum fine on him.
