In Dagestan, law enforcers disrupt solo picket in support of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev

The police detained Magomed Magomedov, an employee of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Draft), who went to a picket in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev. Journalist Murad Muradov* who was filming the picket was also detained by the police.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev regularly hold pickets in Makhachkala in support of him. At their pickets, the activists also demand to stop the persecution of journalists and release political prisoners.

Today, during a solo picket held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Chernovik”, policemen have ripped a poster from his hands and led the journalist to a police car. They also detained journalist Murad Muradov*, who was filming the picket, Murad Muradov* reports.

Let us remind you that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charity foundation, and Kemal Tambiev were accused of financing terrorism. Abdulmumin Gadjiev pleads not guilty, and his colleagues consider the persecution of the journalist to be pressure on him.

*The journalist has been included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the list of the foreign media performing functions of a foreign agent.
