Armenia and Azerbaijan blame each other of shelling
Acting from the border area, Armenian militaries subjected to intensive fire the positions of Azerbaijani soldiers stationed in the Kelbadjar District, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.
In its turn, the Armenian MoD stated that last night Azerbaijani militaries shelled the positions of Armenian soldiers located near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azerbaijan and Armenia are regularly exchanging accusations of shelling. On July 13, Baku stated that Azerbaijani soldiers opened a return fire after Armenian militaries shelled their positions in the Kelbadjar District. Armenia has refuted this information.
"Acting from several positions, units of the Armenian Armed Forces ... opened intense fire at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of the dwelling settlement of Zyailik in the Kelbadjar District," the Azerbaijani MoD has stated, adding that Azeri militaries opened a return fire.
In its turn, the Armenian MoD has refuted this information. Yerevan has stated that Azerbaijani soldiers opened fire from various weapons, including large-calibre rifles, in the direction of the Armenian military positions. After that, Armenian militaries opened a return fire.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliev, accused Russia of not fulfilling its promise to ensure the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno-Karabakh in accordance with the agreements of November 10, 2020.
