Chechen Djumaev files complaint against verdict

Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, who was sentenced to five years in colony for violence against law enforcers, has filed a complaint.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court had found Mikail Markhiev, also known under his former name Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, guilty of having clashed with law enforcers on January 23, 2021, at a rally in support of the oppositional leader, Alexei Navalny*. On February 21, 2022, the court upheld the verdict.

The video posted in social networks shows Djumaev fighting off law enforcers' truncheons. The clash itself began when Djumaev rushed on the law enforcers, who were about to disperse the protesters. Under law enforcers' blows, he retreated towards protesters, imitating a kick. Then, he was knocked down to the asphalt and he disappeared into the crowd. According to the prosecution, at the above rally in support of Navalny*, Djumaev inflicted many blows on three law enforcers.
