Chechen gay Ismail Isaev placed in a punishment cell during first month of his stay in a penal colony
Warders of a penal colony in the Krasnodar Territory placed Ismail Isaev, who is serving his sentence for aiding and abetting a militant, in a punishment cell for 15 days.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 11, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya refused to commute the punishment of Salekh Magamadov and his brother Ismail Isaev. On June 7, it became known that the brothers were transferred from the Grozny SIZO (pre-trial prison), and on July 1, it was reported that Salekh Magamadov was taken to the “Vladimirsky Central” prison, where he would spend one year. Ismail Isaev was taken to the Krasnodar SIZO. On July 20, an advocate stated that the defence had not been aware for Salekh Magamadov’s whereabouts already for a month.
The warders of the penal colony explained to Ismail Isaev that being placed in a punishment cell was “a normal situation” with his article, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports with reference to Miron Rozanov, the press secretary of the “SK SOS” Crisis Group. Ismail Isaev has been kept in the punishment cell since July 21 and is to leave it on August 5.
Let us remind you that on February 22, in Chechnya, a court sentenced Salekh Magamadov to eight years, and Ismail Isaev – to six years of imprisonment, finding them guilty of aiding and abetting a militant from Aslan Byutukaev’s grouping. The brothers complained about being tortured after their detentions and said they were forced to sign fabricated confessions.
