Journalists detained while covering protests in Makhachkala

The police detained Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the “Novoye Delo” (New Clause), and Sergey Einbinder, the editor-in-chief of the “RusNews”, who came to cover a protest action of opponents of mobilization in Makhachkala. Sergei Einbinder reported that he was beaten and his camera was broken.

Today, on a square in Makhachkala, where participants of a protest action against the mobilization have gathered, a mass fight has occurred, and the police have begun to detain the protestors.

The day before, on September 25, in Makhachkala, law enforcers violently dispersed the action of the people who were protesting against the mobilization. According to human rights defenders, 101 people were detained. In total, about 300 people took part in the rally, the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft) reported.
