Makhachkala Mayor's promise to support families of those mobilized sparks distrust on Internet

In Makhachkala, a headquarters has been set up to support the families of those mobilized, which will take upon itself the solution of their problems, Mayor, Salman Dadaev, has announced. Social network users have treated his words as self-promotion, doubting the reality of such support.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 25 and 26, in Makhachkala, law enforcers dispersed participants in mass actions against mobilization. According to human rights defenders, at least 250 people were detained. The head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, said that the events in Makhachkala couldn't be treated as protests, and called the footage showing the use of force to disperse protesters as staged.

Makhachkala authorities have set up a headquarters to support the families of the mobilized people. Support measures will apply to each family individually, Mayor Salman Dadaev said in his Telegram channel.

Some Instagram users have treated the Mayor's speech as mere publicity. "He speaks well. I would like to believe, but again, he will support the chosen ones," the user dhamnallllll has written. "Another act of self-promotion", the user ali_fair_ has expressed his opinion.

Some have recalled the anti-mobilization protests in Makhachkala. "He should promise to punish the law enforcers who violated the law during the rally," the user fifuifhuuftfufutydtf has pointed out.

Eyewitnesses have posted the videos, one of which shows a man in uniform hitting a detainee in the face, who is being held by two law enforcers. In another video, a law enforcer pushes a woman with such force that she fell down. Law enforcers made excessively harsh detentions, Idris Yusupov, a journalist with the "Novoye Delo", has confirmed.

As of October 3, at least 104 people were found guilty of violating the procedure for holding public events during the Makhachkala protests.
