Residents of the capital of South Ossetia ask Russia to stand up for them at the United Nations

While sometimes the water supply to Tskhinval made some 20-30 percent of the demand, during several recent days water taps have not yielded a drop of water.

The "Caucasian Knot" own correspondent asked Tskhinval residents about their impressions concerning the water blockade.

Fariza Bitieva, a housewife: "I'm not surprised with what Saakashvili and Sanakoev are doing... They can't do things in the humanly way. But I'm surprised that Russia does not raise the problem at the UN and OSCE... They exterminate us with thirst for the fourth month already in this heat, and nobody has anything to do with this."

Sograt Sanakoev, a pensioner: "Every day I watch Georgian TV, and I can not get accustomed to their lies. People who live somewhere away maybe can be deceived, but we live here and see everything with our own eyes."

Albina Ostaeva, a student: "In his (Saakashvili's) place I'd pursue the same policy: to force Ossetians hate Georgia. All these bombardments and this water blockade are indicating to all honest people what awaits South Ossetia if Georgia wins. Then, not just water, they will deprive us of air to breathe!"

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that South Ossetia will be forced to cut the Tiripon, Saltvis and Kekhva irrigation canals through which water arrives to Georgia.

This is the topic of today's letter sent by Boris Chochiev, Vice-Premier of the Republic of South Ossetia, to R. Reave, head of the OSCE Mission in Georgia, General Major M. M. Kulakhmetov, commander of the United Peacekeeping Troops, and to Ambassadors of the Russian Federation, USA, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy in Georgia.
