Ingush native subjected to pressure in penal colony, his mother complains

Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, a native of Ingushetia, convicted in the case on participation in hostilities in Syria, is being unreasonably punished in a penal colony. Marzhan Albagachieva, a mother of the convict, complains that warders put pressure on her son. The woman asked human rights defenders to protect the rights of her son.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 24, human rights defender Zarema Barakhoeva held a picket in front of the building of the Astrakhan Regional Prosecutor’s Office, alleging a violation of the rights of Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, who was serving his sentence in the penal colony.

According to Marzhan Albagachieva, her son is subjected to unreasonable punishments in the penal colony.

“My son now suffers from many diseases, including epilepsy,” the woman said. Marzhan Albagachieva asked the Moscow Helsinki Group, the Public Verdict Foundation and the human rights organization “Mashr: for help in defending her son’s rights.

Let us remind you that in August 2018, Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, a native of Ingushetia, was sentenced in to nine years of imprisonment. According to the investigators’ version, since January 2015, Abdul-Malik Albagachiev fought in Syria, and after returning to Russia in March, the man stored an improvised grenade.

Abdul-Malik Albagachiev complained that he had been subjected to torture during the preliminary investigation.
