Chechen activists in Europe support actions of solidarity with Saakashvili
Natives of Chechnya took part in rallies in support of Mikhail Saakashvili, organized by Georgian activists in European cities.
Supporters of Mikhail Saakashvili held a series of protest actions in support of the former president of Georgia. In the Georgian village of Chorvile, the protest turned into clashes with local residents. The organizers of the actions accused the ruling party of provocation.
Supporters of the former president of Georgia regularly hold protest actions with the demand to transfer him to a foreign clinic for medical treatment. So, on January 2, they held a rally in front of the residence of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling “Georgian Dream” Party.
On January 4, members of the Chechen Diaspora took part in actions of solidarity with Mikhail Saakashvili, which were organized by Georgian activists in Austria, Germany, France, and Switzerland, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports.
Shamil Albakov, the press secretary of the Assembly of European Chechens, joined a picket held in front of the Georgian consulate in Strasbourg.
“We express our extreme concern about the situation around Mikhail Saakashvili, who has been in prison in Georgia for more than a year. We wish him the soonest release,” Shamil Albakov stated.
Besides, about 40 people took part in the rally in support of Mikhail Saakashvili held in Bern, Switzerland, reported Lachin Mamishov, one of the organizers of the protest action.
Let us remind you that on November 19, 2022, with reference to the expertise conducted by foreign doctors, an advocate of Mikhail Saakashvili suggested that the politician was poisoned after his arrest in Georgia.
