Volgograd resident fined for criticizing Russian president

Kirill Shekurov, a resident of Volgograd, was fined by 40,000 roubles for posting criticism of Vladimir Putin, Russian President, on the Internet.

The ruling on the administrative case was made by the Voroshilovsky District Court. In September, 2022, Shekurov posted a comment on the Internet that negatively assesses Vladimir Putin's activities, the outlet "v102.ru" reports.

The court found Shekurov guilty of committing an administrative offense, namely "petty hooliganism in the form of spreading information expressed in an indecent form that offends human dignity and public morality, and demonstrates a clear disrespect for the society or the state."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February 2022, Batyr Boromangnaev, the head of the Kalmyk branch of the "Yabloko" Party, was accused of petty hooliganism after his post on the Internet.
