For the second time in a row, policemen disrupt pickets of Gadjiev's colleagues in Makhachkala

Law enforcers have detained Magdi Kamalov and Magomed Magomedov, journalists, who were on their way to the site of weekly solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 2, 2023, policemen detained Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" outlet, who was holding a solo picket in support of Gadjiev. The latter's father, mother and aunt were also detained. For the third week in a row, law enforcers disrupt pickets in Gadjiev's support, although the pickets are held in compliance with the law, journalists explain.

Gadjiev's colleagues treat the criminal case against him as political persecution and hold weekly solo pickets in Makhachkala in his support. The pickets aroused increased law enforcers' attention, Magdi Kamalov noted on December 26.

According to his story, today he and Magomedov were going to the place where pickets in Gadjiev's defence were usually held. When the journalists were walking along the Makhachkala central square, they were stopped by a police squad; the policemen said that they had information that several people were planning to "break the New Year Tree" set up in the central square.

In response to Kamalov's and Magomedov's assurances that they were not going to break the New Year Tree, but were only crossing the square, they were ordered to go to the police station.
