Volgograd resident claims torture after setting fire to rug at FSB door in Krasnodar

After detention, law enforcers tortured, including with the use of electric current, Igor Paskar, a resident of Volgograd, accused of committing a terror act attack and vandalism: he set fire to a rug near the FSB building in Krasnodar; he claimed torture at the trial at the Southern District Court. Igor was pressed to name his accomplices, and he invented some under pressure, his advocate has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Igor Paskar, 46, was detained on June 16, 2022, in Krasnodar after throwing a "Molotov cocktail" into the FSB building, and as a result, a rug near the entrance caught fire. Paskar was charged with terrorism and vandalism.

The defendant stated that under pressure he was forced to invent an accomplice in the crime, a certain Alexander Vulff, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reported, citing Felix Vertegel, the advocate.

According to Igor Paskar, law enforcers put a bag over his head, handcuffed his hands and kicked him. "I was so squeezed from above that I could not breathe. As a result, I lost consciousness twice," he has stated, adding that his action had been conceived as a pacifist one.

Earlier, Gennady Gudkov, an oppositionist and a former State Duma MP, stated that, by the standards of civilized countries, the act of burning a rug by Paskar results in just petty hooliganism at most.

The arsons of military commissariats (enlistment offices) that were reported in different regions since the start of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine are regarded as terror acts; the offenders may face up to 15 years in prison, Vladimir Tsimlyansky, a representative of the Russian General Staff has stated.
