Olesya Ovchinnikova from Krasnodar leaves Russia after fined for talks about Ukraine
Olesya Ovchinnikova, a resident of Krasnodar, who was fined for talking in a restaurant about the special military operation (SMO), said that she had left for Armenia and had no plans to return to Russia. The decision to fine Ovchinnikova will be challenged, her advocate has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 16, a Krasnodar court imposed a fine of 40,000 roubles on Ovchinnikova. According to the court, the woman shouted slogans in the restaurant that discredited Russian militaries.
On January 29, 2023, law enforcers detained the spouses Olesya and Alexei Ovchinnikov for a pacifist talk. Alexei Ovchinnikov was arrested for 15 days on charges of petty hooliganism; his wife was fined by 1000 roubles under the same article. Besides, a protocol was drawn up against her on discrediting militaries.
The court refused to examine the video of the spouses' detention, Alexei Avanesyan, their advocate, has stated.
Olesya Ovchinnikova said that she was in Armenia, where she went with her daughter. According to her story, she is not going to apply for political refugee status, but she does not plan to return to Russia either, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project writes.
Let us remind you that Olesya Ovchinnikova said that in the restaurant, a visitor reacted sharply to a conversation about the SMO in Ukraine that she and her girlfriend had at the table; he began threaten them and started a brawl.
