Gadjiev's colleagues note Makhachkala townspeople's positive reaction to pickets
Salim Khalitov, an activist, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" outlet, and Idris Yusupov, a journalist, who went out to solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, their colleague, have noted a particularly active reaction of passers-by to their actions. Law enforcers did not interfere with the pickets. Gadjiev's case gets to the background against other news from Russia and Dagestan, but such pickets remind people of his fate, the journalist's friends assert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues treat his case as a political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in Makhachkala in his support.
Salim Khalitov, a Dagestan activist, went out to his picket in Gadjiev's support in a papakha (Caucasian fur hat) and a felt cloak, which attracted a lot of passers-by's attention.
Salim has explained that this was not the first time he goes out to a picket, because he is sure of Gadjiev's innocence. "People showed a very strong reaction. They looked at the cloak and hat, and then they came up and read what was written on the poster," he said.
Khalitov also said that policemen demanded written explanations from all the picketers. However, he noted some policemen's "friendly attitude."
The persecution of Gadjiev is lost in the information agenda due to other, more important news, Islam, a friend of Gadjiev, has noted.
According to his story, only Gadjiev's relatives, colleagues and friends continue to be interested in his criminal case. "An ordinary person now thinks more about rising prices and other events in the country and the republic," Islam believes.
