Colleagues of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev hold two pickets in Makhachkala
In Makhachkala, the journalists, Magomed Magomedov and Idris Yusupov, have held solo pickets demanding to stop the criminal prosecution of their colleague, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and release political prisoners.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues treat the criminal case against him as political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support. The picketers include Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly outlet, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the outlet, and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the "Novoye Delo" (New Cause) outlet. Amid other news that abound in Russia and Dagestan, Gadjiev's case has gone to the background; and such pickets remind people of his fate, his colleagues pointed out on February 20 after a series of solo pickets.
On February 27 in Makhachkala, two solo pickets in support of Gadjiev were held, the "Chernovik" has reported in its Telegram channel.
One of the pickets was held by Magomed Magomedov, who stood with a poster reading "Freedom to Abdulmumin Gadjiev". The second picket was held by Idris Yusupov, whose poster read "Freedom to political prisoners!"
"Our demands on authorities remain the same: freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev! Stop the absurd, based on lies and fantasies, criminal case against our colleague!" says the message in the Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, one of the editors of the "Chernovik", as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charity Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, have been in custody since June 2019 on charges of financing terrorism.
On February 9, 2023, the court appointed a new examination of Gadjiev's articles.
