ECtHR awards compensation to Krasnodar activist
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has decided that Denis Nochevka had been illegally kept after being detained at a rally against the pension reform held in Krasnodar; and his trial was not impartial.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that dozens were detained on September 9, 2018, in Krasnodar at the unsanctioned march against the pension reform. Local residents reported that occasional passers-by who did not take part in the action were also detained.
Denis Nochevka, 31, was detained as a suspect of committing an administrative offense at the procession and was illegally kept in custody for more than three hours to draw up a protocol. Besides, the court that had fined Denis was not impartial, the ECtHR's website informs.
The ECtHR has satisfied Nochevka's claim and obliged Russia to pay him 3900 euros. Mikhail Benyash*, an advocate, has noted that Russia "will definitely pay the compensation, when it communicates the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) again," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.
Let us remind you also that in September 2021, the Prikubansky District Court found Denis Nochevka guilty of disobeying some policeman's lawful demands. Then, Denis was a member of the Election Commission of the Krasnodar Territory from the "Yabloko" Party; and the policeman tried to remove him from the polling station.
