Inquiry into plotting by native of Chechnya attack on Berlin synagogue stopped
The German General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has closed the consideration of the case on plotting a terror act on a Berlin synagogue, initiated against Zelimkhan Baisagurov, the "Vayfond" Chechen Human Rights Association has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 16, 2020, in Germany, law enforcers blew up the door to the apartment of immigrants from Chechnya and searched it. The German GPO explained that the searches were conducted within the case of preparing a terror act in a synagogue in Berlin.
On October 11, 2019, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a blogger, reported that in September 2019, in Berlin, his acquaintance and two other natives of Chechnya went to a mosque for prayer. The blogger's acquaintance filmed the road on his mobile phone from the car window. The synagogue got into the frame. The next morning, all the three were "twisted" by German special forces. The natives of Chechnya were interrogated for several hours, telling them that synagogues should not be filmed. The detainees were warned about the initiation of a criminal case, and then released.
Now, Zelimkhan Baisagurov, a native of Chechnya, has been cleared of all suspicions and charges, the "Vayfond" Association reported in its Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that Sasha Kulaeva, the head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Branch of the FIDH (International Human Rights Federation), has noted that Europeans began associating natives of Northern Caucasus with Islamic radicalization; therefore, in the European Union (EU) they are unreasonably accused of terrorism. A similar situation arose after the explosions on March 22, 2016, in Brussels.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the searches of residences of natives of Chechnya in Berlin angered the Chechen Diaspora. Law enforcers severely detained them and reported on "Chechen Islamists", having no grounds for their arrest, the Diaspora has pointed out.
