Astrakhan citizen sentenced in case on incitement to extremism

In the Astrakhan Region, a court has pronounced a real sentence to a man whose posts on the social media were considered by the law enforcement bodies to be calls for violence against public officers.

A native of Astrakhan, born in 1984, was found guilty of public calls for extremist activity because of his posts on the “VKontakte” social media outlet. In the public posts published by the man, investigators found “calls for violent actions against public officers,” the “Interfax-Yug” reported with reference to the regional department of the FSB. The court sentenced the man to one year of imprisonment in a penal colony.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in January, a resident of Nalchik was convicted under the same article on incitement to extremism. The court pronounced to him a two-year suspended sentence with a one-year ban on website administration.
