Blogger from North Ossetia fined for discrediting Russian army

Alan Khasiev, a blogger from North Ossetia, was fined for a video posted on the social media.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in October, it became known that a criminal case had been instituted against Alan Khasiev for slandering a deputy prosecutor in Vladikavkaz. After that, Samvel Sarkisyants, a businessman from North Ossetia, accused Alan Khasiev of disseminating false information about him. In November 2022, Alan Khasiev was arrested.

A video was posted on the Telegram channel, which author is presumably Alan Khasiev. The court concluded that the man “distorts and discredits the tasks of using the Russian Armed Forces in the special military operation zone.” Alan Khasiev pleaded not guilty. He called the accusation far-fetched and denied any involvement in the administration of the Telegram channel in which the video had been posted. In this Telegram channel, Alan Khasiev has repeatedly spoken out in support of the policy of President Vladimir Putin, the “Kavkaz.Realii”*.
