Contract serviceman from Vladikavkaz imprisoned for leaving his military unit

In Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia-Alania, the military court has sentenced Sergey Osipov, a contract serviceman, to six years in prison for his six-months of absence from service at his military unit.

Osipov left the location of the military unit on June 10, 2022, and went home to Vladikavkaz, where he stayed until December 12, 2022, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

He explained his trip home without his commander's permit by the desire to relax and formalize his inheritance; in the meantime, he was receiving his salary for the service. He returned to the unit when he found out that he had been put on the wanted list. Osipov has pleaded guilty to the unsanctioned abandonment of the unit, but explained that he was in Crimea on his service trip and left the unit, because he was not provided with housing and was not assigned his official duties. The court has concluded that this did not relieve him of the need to obtain a permit to leave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the Vladikavkaz Garrison Military Court had sentenced Timofei Shaburov, a contract soldier, to six months at a disciplinary unit for his leaving the service for two weeks after returning from the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine in the period before the announcement of partial mobilization.
