Court closes case against Makhachkala resident Rabadanov on protests against mobilization
The court ruled that the law enforcement bodies failed to prove the guilt of Gadji Rabadanov in violating the rules for holding an unsanctioned rally in Makhachkala. The case was thus closed. Gadji Rabadanov himself stated that he did not participate in the street protests against the mobilization.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 25 and 26, 2022, large-scale protest actions against mobilization took place in Makhachkala, which ended in mass detentions. At least 20 criminal cases were instituted against the protestors for the use of violence against police officers.
The authorities refused to recognize the protests in the republic as an initiative of local residents. Dagestani leader Sergey Melikov declared that the protest actions were prepared “including by forces from abroad.”
The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala found the guilt of Gadji Rabadanov “unproven,” the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports.
Earlier, in the case against four participants of the protest action against the mobilization, the charge was re-classified from the article on attacking a law enforcer to causing minor bodily harm, and the defendants were released from a SIZO (pre-trial prison).
