Kadyrov reacts sharply to Prigozhin's words about Yamadaev's death
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and the founder of the "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC), Evgeny Prigozhin, after an exchange of public statements, have spoken on the phone "in the manly way", and agreed not to criticize each other, Chechen units and the "Wagner" PMC. However, Prigozhin have recalled the death of Sulim Yamadaev, Kadyrov has stated with indignation.
On May 31, Kadyrov announced that Chechen units had been redeployed to the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in order to take part in the assault on dwelling settlements. Prigozhin said that he was unaware of the deployment plans of Chechen units. Magomed Daudov, the Chairman (Speaker) of the Chechen Parliament, has stressed that Prigozhin was not supposed to know about this. Later, Prigozhin explained his refusal to meet personally with Kadyrov fighters to resolve the conflict by his unwillingness to repeat the fate of Sulim Yamadaev.
Kadyrov has stated that by recording a statement in Prigozhin's support, in which he called him "a brother" and expressed his intention to replace the "Wagner" PMC, he "sincerely believed" that he was "turning his shoulder." "But after that, Prigozhin's tone towards us has changed for some reason; and we heard a series of veiled hostile and disdainful statements addressed to the "Akhmat" and again to the General Staff and the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD)," the head of Chechnya wrote in his Telegram channel.
Kadyrov has noted that he had tried to contact Prigozhin "to sort out the reasons for such public aggression," but his phone call went unanswered.
Evgeny Prigozhin has again made an ironic statement "that Chechen fighters are only able to liberate a few settlements, but not the DPR," Kadyrov has stressed.
According to his version, they discussed the need to "put an end" to the issue of getting personal, and most importantly, to stop discussing the actions of the Russian Army. According to Kadyrov, the conversation ended with reconciliation. "We've promised not to criticize or even mention either 'Akhmat' or 'Wagner' in our statements," Kadyrov wrote.
In particular, he was outraged by Prigozhin's mentioning of the murder of Sulim Yamadaev. The head of Chechnya has noted that "the trial on Yamadaev's case has ended long ago; and the perpetrators are serving their prison terms."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sulim Yamadaev, a former commander of the Chechen battalion "Vostok" (East), after his conflict with Ramzan Kadyrov, left for the United Arab Emirates, where he was assassinated in 2009.
